HOW does your garden grow?

A garden at a Southampton play centre will grow with a little help from The Daily Echo Combined Insurance Make it Happen awards.

The Newtown adventure playground in Graham Road, Southampton, provides after-school and holiday care for children aged between five and 15 years.

This is thanks to our Make it Happen scheme, which gave all our readers the opportunity to apply for a share of £10,000.

We had hundreds of applications and the Newtown adventure playground is one of many success stories. It will receive £100 to brighten up its garden.

Volunteer Sakina Hussain, said: "The garden is a lovely place for the children to spend time and to sit and have their lunch in when the weather is good enough.

"We are hoping to plant a herb garden. The children love gardening, they planted a lot of flowers in the summer and even in the winter they plant bulbs.

"Each child will put their name next to a bulb and watch its progress throughout the year, they really enjoy that.

"The centre is a wonderful place. It's somewhere where your children will be safe and you know they will be out of trouble."
