Having won their opening two fixtures in the south-west regional league, Solent Stars Women's first team will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent start tomorrow.

They play Exeter Eagles at Hamble Community Sports College (tip off 2pm).

"We have started at the level that I had hoped for," commented coach Michael Ball. "The players have moved forward in the off-season when they had fitness and diet advice from Jo Jennings, former Olympic and Commonwealth Games high jumper.

"The players are definately sharper than at the same stage last season.

"Also we wanted to support the players in developing their confidence and mental toughness and we are delighted to be working with YazEl Hakim, sports psychology lecturer at King Alfred's College.

"CJ and myself have explained to the players that we cannot just stand still as a team and that we will continue to push the players out of their comfort zone and help them lift the lid off their own expectations.

"It will be interesting to see how the players respond this year to being under more pressure - I am expecting them to rise to the challenge. They have never failed to surprise me!"

This weekend's game against Exeter will pit Solent against another new team to the Senior National League.

"They had a close overtime loss to Reading last weekend. Although on paper we beat Reading comfortably I was not entirely happy with the way we played, especially at the defensive end, and I am looking forward to us showing significant improvement upon our last home performance," said Ball.

Solent Stars: Sarah Cooper (capt), Lynne Powell, Carrie Jones,Catherine Brownsell, Lizzie Cloke, Sarah Cooper, Katarina Syngellakis, Zsuzsa Tarnai - plus second team players to be decided.
