After a somewhat disappointing start to their league programme, Mottisfont got back on the winning track with a solitary goal victory away to Durley.
A second half strike by Dave Kemp was enough to capture three welcome points for Font against their old Southampton League opponents.
There was little to choose between the sides throughout the first half, with clear-cut chances down to a minimum.
Font had more of the share of midfield play but could not find a way through a determined home defence.
A Nigel Cutler shot tested the Durley keeper after the interval while Paul Fielder saved Font from going behind shortly after.
The visitors moved up a gear and a Dave Kemp shot struck the home post, followed by a strike by Kev Fryer that rattled the Durley bar.
Font eventually broke the deadlock when a through ball by Alan Bundy was latched on to by Kemp, who beat both the defender and keeper to score what was to be the winning goal. Another fine save by Fielder denied Durley an equaliser before both sides wasted good chances to score, in what had been an evenly contested match.
This week, Mottisfont meet another ex Southampton League rival when Sporting BTC are the visitors to Bengers Lane in a 3pm kick-off.
