Eastleigh racing driver Shane Kelly had a big thank you for his pit crew after finishing third in the penultimate round of the national ARP Formula 3 Championship at Snetterton.
They worked flat out to repair a smashed front wheel and wing after Kelly had been shunted by Janine Payne after he had swept up into second place early in the race.
There was even damage to the steering and the aerodynamics under the body of the car, but within ten minutes Kelly's mechanics got him back on track although obviously way back.
That's when his luck turned. The red flags came out when Gary Marsh beached his car at the Esses and when the race restarted Kelly gunned his Opel Dallarra up from 13th to fifth in just one lap then passed Jon Grey and Chris Willie to take third place.
And that's where he stayed to tighten his grip on third place in the championship with one round to go at Donington park on October 24.
Kelly now has a new website: www.skracing.co.uk
