PENNY wise pupils at a Chandler's Ford school are helping children in one of the most impoverished corners of the world.
The children, pictured above, at Sherborne House School were set the challenge of making a line of coins from the school front gates to the back - a distance of about 197 metres.
Pupils from every class used their morning break to lay their coins in a line.
They were delighted to hit their target and raised nearly £200.
The money will go towards the Fair Oak-based St Thomas Handshake to Kware Appeal - a charity that has supported a school and clinic in the slums of Nairobi. Sherborne House has been connected with the appeal for a number of years.
Year 2 teacher Sandra Goldstraw said: "It took quite some time to count and bag them all up but we are thrilled."
