CAMPAIGNERS who saved a city school from closure celebrated their victory with a barbecue.
Apout 250 people turned up to the event at Moorlands Infant School in Kesteven Way, Bitterne, including mums, dads, friends and pupils past and present.
Organiser and mum of two Jo Barnard said: "We just wanted to do something to celebrate the achievement in swinging the decision to save Moorlands. We know there is still a lot of work to do with Southampton LEA but this is a time for celebration to thank all the people who have worked so hard."
Southampton City Council's executive member for education has ordered a feasibility study to look at turning the 120-pupil school into a 210-pupil primary school.
He also called for a review of surplus places in neighbouring schools in Bitterne and Townhill Park. Education bosses had recommended the infant school's closure because of falling pupil numbers.
