THE entrance to Eastleigh's Fleming Park Leisure Centre could be set for a major makeover.
Councillors will consider plans for a new entrance as well as landscaping and upgraded changing facilities.
Steps to the first floor reception will be removed. Visitors will be able to get to all the leisure centre's main facilities at ground level, making it easier for the disabled, the elderly and parents with pushchairs.
It is planned to convert the old reception area into a soft play area/party room.
The cafe will be extended and there will be improvements to the loos. There will be a landscaped plaza leading up to the new reception area.
The leisure centre improvements will also mark a major step forward for Eastleigh Healthworks unit. Its vital work in helping to improve the health of the borough's citizens is currently carried out in temporary offices outside the leisure centre.
Now a new office/assessment facility for the Healthworks operation is to be incorporated in the reception area.
New changing rooms will improve the facilities for those taking part in outdoor sports including the recently built floodlit artificial turf pitches and tennis courts.
Eastleigh Local Area Committee has been recommended to give the go-ahead to the alterations.
