A CASHIER has told how she attempted to foil a robbery at a Totton store by slamming her till shut, trapping the raider's hand.
Kim Tabley was on duty at the Forbuoys shop in Longstock Crescent when a man posing as a customer came in and asked for matches.
Kim, 19, of Totton, said: "When I opened the till he suddenly said not to move and told me to give him all the money.
"He reached into the till and I pushed the drawer shut on his hand to try to prevent him stealing any of the takings.
"He pulled his hand out and ran from the shop with £120, but dropped £20 on the floor.
"It was frightening at the time and I couldn't face going to work the next day. It's the sort of incident you tend to associate with inner-city areas, not somewhere like Totton.
"Luckily he didn't have a weapon."
A police spokesman said: "The man went into the store and walked over to the alcohol counter, where he stayed for about a minute before approaching the till to buy some matches.
"When the cashier opened the till to give him his change he said: 'Don't move! Give me all the money'.
"He then leaned over the counter and reached into the till but the cashier slammed it shut, jamming his hand."
The robbery took place on September 12, but details have only just been released.
The raider is described as aged between 25 and 35 years, 6ft, slim, with light brown hair that was short at the front and long at the back. He was wearing blue jeans, a blue fleece jacket, sunglasses and had a hoop earring in his left ear.
