SAINTS slipped to their fifth defeat in seven matches with a 1-0 loss at Fulham.
Steve Wigley was coming into the match looking for his first Premier League win since taking over as head coach on the back of a Carling Cup victory at Northampton.
But that win didn't translate too much confidence into the side, who fell behind on 24 minutes.
Former Saint Luis Boa Morte was allowed too much time to cross from the left and Tomasz Radzinski ran in unchallenged to head home.
Anders Svensson reacted angrily to being substituted on 61 minutes and refused to sit with the rest of the team in the dugout, instead sitting on the floor further up the touchline.
In an entertaining game both teams had further chances with Kevin Phillips missing two great opportunities and Rory Delap another while Edwin van der Sar and Antti Niemi both made fine saves.
