MANOR Field Junior School: The new extension will be officially opened on October 1, at 1.30pm.
On September 16, I was pleased to be invited to the school to assist with interviewing pupils who wished to become members of the community relations team.
Jan Cushing, the headteacher, and I met nine young people who were keen to join the team.
They sounded very capable. Most mentioned report-writing, helping people and IT skills.
When Jan and I were alone, we discussed how well everyone had answered the questions.
Some seemed very reliable, which was important. Jan and I decided that all applications should have a role.
Two groups were formed, one group being on duty for the first half-term and the other for the second half-term.
Finally, there was a debate about a name for the team and all agreed on Manor Field Community Relations Team.
ART and Flower Festival: Christ the King Church is holding an art and flower festival tomorrow and Sunday.
The setting-up of exhibits will take place on Friday, between 10am and noon, and in the evening, from 5pm to 7pm.
Viewings will happen tomorrow, between 10am and 5pm, and on Sunday, from 11am to 7pm.
Entrance costs 50p for adults, and refreshments will be available.
