WE always said we'd grow up in public. And that's what we've done. Our new album is about what happens when a bunch of teenage lads from Leeds lap the world a couple of times and then spit it all out."
These are the wise words of The Music, spoken two years ago before they got even bigger.
The band, who are appearing at Southampton Guildhall tomorrow have since enjoyed a top-five album.
In May this year they recorded with Brendan O'Brien, whose production credits include Rage Against the Machine and Pearl Jam.
The Music's groove-led exuberance has evolved over the years and the latest material, which will be played at the Southampton gig, marks the emergence of a new dimension - Rob Harvey as both a vocalist and lyricist.
According to their PR people, "anyone who has experienced the spiritual uplift of The Music live will know just how far their euphoric grooves can carry a crowd," so the audience at Southampton Guildhall should be in for a spectacular night.
Southampton Guildhall, tomorrow. Performance: 7.30pm. Tickets: £13.50. Box office: 023 8063 2601.
