IT'S the sleekest, sassiest, sexiest, sharpest show around - and it's coming to Southampton this week.
Chicago returns to The Mayflower on Tuesday and if past form is anything to go by, it's sure to be a massive hit.
The tone of the show is set from the first moment - it opens with the words, "murder, greed, violence, corruption, exploitation, adultery, treachery...all those things we hold dear to our hearts".
The show is being given an extra edge this time around, courtesy of leading man Marti Pellow who, as a sharp suited lawyer, is a world away from his long-haired, puppy dog-eyed days as Wet Wet Wet's front-man.
He stars alongside the cream of the country's hottest dancers in this kiss-and-tell tale of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who kills her lover.
She meets a lawyer who turns her into a celebrity and a jailbird showgirl with an eye for the headlines.
Chicago is a timeless satire on justice and celebrity, with a cast that ooze sex appeal, hot and jazzy music, sensuous dancing and striking costumes.
It gives the audience a reminder of what good musical theatre is all about.
Chicago is at The mayflower, Southampton, from Tuesday to October 9. Tickets: from £15. Box office: 023 8071 1811.
