THE alternatives to the car were on show in Winchester High Street as part of Alternative Transport Day.
Promoted by the county and city councils, the event aims to remind people that there are other ways of getting around apart from the car.
Exhibits included electric cars and bikes, folding bikes and information about the newly-launched 'Bikeabout' scheme where people can borrow cycles for free.
City councillor Richard Knasel said: "Traffic congestion, air pollution and noise need to be reduced, but conventional vehicle use is increasing all the time. We need to come up with alternatives for the future."
