Romsey will have an extra market day from tomorrow onwards - and it will focus on high quality food.
The town centre already has markets on Tuesdays and Fridays with plants, clothes, food and fruit and vegetable stalls.
But market manager Nick Michell of Bradbeers, who run the market, said the new venture will be a 'food only' venture with the emphasis on quality.
He explained: "We have been targeting high quality food retailers and we will have a mixture of local home grown produce and a few Continental stalls."
The Continental fare is set to include French cheese and olives from the Mediterranean, while beef and pork, local eggs, organic vegetables and speciality fudge will be among the home-grown produce.
"A lot of people come into the town on Saturdays and we want to offer something new. We thought a food speciality market was the best way forward. We are confident there is a demand for it," said Mr Michell.
There was also room, he said, for a charity stall and he can be contacted on 01794 515555.
The first market coincides with the Action for Market Towns Conference being hosted by Romsey.
