A BODY recovered from the sea off the coast of the Isle of Wight is believed to be that of a missing man from Dorset.
John Morris, 69, disappeared from his home in Dorchester on September 14.
Police confirmed that paperwork found on the body, which was recovered in the Needles channel off Shingles Beach on Tuesday afternoon, bore the name of Mr Morris.
A Hampshire police spokesman said that the family of Mr Morris had been informed.
A post-mortem was due to take place today at St Mary's hospital in Newport but formal identification of the body is expected to take some time.
