Chris Quinn is seniors champion
HAMPSHIRE golfer Christine Quinn has become the new English Seniors Ladies' champion at the first attempt.
She won the title last week at a windswept Trevose course in north Cornwall.
Chris, a member at South Winchester GC, won the qualifying event from anong a field of 32 and went on to beat Elizabeth Boatman (Royal Worlingham, Suffolk) 4 and 3 in the final.
The long-time Hampshire player, now 51, could have played in the event last year, but couldn't fit it into her schedule.
This time she took a week's holiday in Cornwall, taking her husband, Kevin, as her caddie, with additional support from her mother and her dog!
"I was absolutely thrilled to take the title, although I'm not so sure I like the 'seniors' tag! she told me.
Her reward is selection as captain of the England Seniors team to play in the Home Internationals next month at the Kilkeel GC in Ireland.
Chris has been playing off scratch for the past 30 years and has three times been a member of a Hampshire team winning the English County Championship crown.
