Council chiefs joined directors of South West Trains to open Winchester's new-look station.
Commuters travelling on the northbound line can now enjoy more comfortable surroundings following the £350,000 revamp.
The refurbishments includes a new booking hall, coffee shop and waiting area, complete with a customer information screen.
The platform area was also given a lick of paint as part of the spruce-up.
MD, Andrew Haines, joined county councillor, Tim Knight, as he unveiled a commemorative plaque.
The county's part in the project was to provide extra lighting and CCTV cameras.
"Winchester station is an important part of the community, which is why we are pleased to have worked with Hampshire County Council on these major improvements our passengers so deserve," said Mr Haines.
