MATT SPEAKMAN is back on track for a Super Coupe Cup class win after chalking up his third victory of the season at Snetterton in his Rover Gti.
The young Southampton driver, pictured, had to withstand a great deal of bumping andboring to get his car across the line after qualifying on class pole, more than a second ahead of Gti rivals Martin Ward and artin Young.
On the opening lap of the race, Seakman maintained his class lead while also passing cars of higher class.
Coming into the Russells chicane for the first time, an ambitious move was made by Stuart Levers in his Honda CRX, resulting in contact between the two cars.
Levers' Honda span out of control in front of Speakman and, with nowhere to go, he struck the side of the Honda at speed. Fortunately, with damage limited to the bodywork, he was able to continue and was still leading from Young and Ward.
The trio battled throughout the race, Ward eventually passing Young for second.
Coming into Russells chicane for the final time, Ward tried to pass Speakman. Leaving his braking very late, he skidded into the back of Speakman's Gti, using it as a brake, but with fortune on his side again the Hampshire driver battled on to take the chequered flag.
He maintains second place in the Gti Championship and is only three points behind Young going into the final round at Donington Park on October 23/24.
