Lymington TOWN stormed back to the top of the Division 2 table last night with a 4-0 victory over Brading Town at Southampton Road.
After back-to-back defeats by Locks Heath and US Portsmouth, two first-half strikes by Danny Veal helped Town to gain early command.
Kev James added a third after 55 minutes following a neat one-two with Steve Jenkin and returning ex-Cherries midfielder John Bailey sealed their victory late on.
"We're back on track again, we played absolutely tremendous tonight," enthused Lymington boss John Pyatt.
There was more good news for Pyatt as both of Lymington's title rivals, Poole Town and Shafesbury, slipped to surprise defeats against teams from the bottom half.
First-half efforts from Danny Kyle (12) and Gary Frost (35) helped earn Alresford Town a 2-1 home success over Poole, who replied through Gary Funnell (35).
Strikes by Neil Williams (20) and Danny Mockeridge (74) secured Blackfield & Langley a 2-0 win over Shaftesbury at Gang Warily.
Horndean are third following a 1-0 win at East Cowes Vics - their fourth consecutive victory under the guidance of new manager Mike Benfield.
Ashley Howard's close-range finish midway through the second-half clinched Horndean the points.
An unlucky own goal after 13 minutes set Petersfield Town on the road to a 3-0 verdict against Amesbury Town at Love Lane.
Russell Bishop fired in a second from 12 yards after 55 minutes with Gavin Keogh slotting in a third on the hour mark.
