MURDER, greed, violence, corruption, exploitation, adultery and treachery - all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts - so begins Chicago, the West End's hottest musical, which opens at The Mayflower, Southampton, on September 28.
Former Wet Wet Wet lead singer Marti Pellow stars alongside the cream of the country's hottest dancers in this kiss-and-tell tale of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who kills her lover.
She meets a sharp lawyer, Billy Flynn, played by good old Marti, who turns her into a celebrity, and a jailbird showgirl with an eye for the headlines.
She's joined by Velma Kelly, a dancing jailbird with an ear for the headlines and an eye for talent.
In this timely satire on justice and celebrity, the cast oozes sex appeal, the music is hot and jazzy, the dancing is sensuous and the costumes are something else.
It's a journey back through time with danger, dazzle, style, a great deal of humour and is a reminder of what great musical theatre is all about.
Tickets for Chicago, which runs until October 9, at The Mayflower, are available on the ticket hotline 023 8071 1811 or online at www.the-mayflower.com
