ACOUSTIC Strawbs are appearing at Central Studio this Saturday.
The folk-rock band, previously known as The Strawbs, has enjoyed major success on both sides of the Atlantic.
Thirty years on from their huge album chart successes, Grave New World and Bursting at the Seams, the band (pictured above) are currently touring with an acoustic line-up and will be performing in Basingstoke, starting at 8pm.
It is comprised of Dave Cousins on guitar, dulcimer and vocals, Dave Lambert on guitar and vocals and relative new boy Brian Willoughby on guitar.
The trio have recently completed recording their first album for 10 years, including several new songs such as There Will Come The Day and Not All The Flowers Grow which reflects the Aberfan tragedy of 1966, together with new acoustic versions of classic Strawbs tracks, played with the integrity and musicianship that the band has always been recognised for.
The Classic Rock Society recently presented Dave Cousins, leader of The Strawbs, with their Lifetime Achievement Award celebrating 30 years in rock music.
It was presented by former member of the group, Rick Wakeman.
Tickets cost £12.50, £11 concessions and £7.50 for students and children under-16, which are available from the box office on 01256 418318 or visit www.centralstudio.co.uk
