TOTALLY Tennis, Greenacre head coach Jason Jokhoo has successfully completed his third professional coaching qualification, the Performance Coach Award (PCA), which is the highest rung on the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) coaching ladder.

Jokhoo, who has been a tennis coach for eight years, joins Totally Tennis director Nigel Long and head coach Shane Deacon as only the eighth coach to achieve this award in the county of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

A former performance player himself, Jokhoo became a coach after leaving school and, under the guidance of Long, has become an integral part of the highly successful coaching team.

Jokhoo only took up the head coach position at Totally Tennis, Greenacre, in Newbury, earlier this year.

The award itself involves extensive workshops and projects as well as continued assessment by the LTA tutoring team.

Areas of assessment range from tactics and technique to sports medicine, psychology and physiology, and it takes a minimum of one year to complete.

Long said of Jokhoo's achievement: "Jason has worked extremely hard to gain this qualification. It's a fantastic boost for his personal development and also for Totally Tennis.

"Totally Tennis is an LTA accredited National Performance Centre, so to have another performance coach as part of the team is great for everyone, especially our players."

The Performance Coach Award was established in 1994 and trains coaches to work with performance players.

The aim of the course is to train coaches who are of a performance and excellence standard as well as giving coaches vital information and practical experience relevant to working with players.
