City of Southampton's team of more than 30 swimmers shone in their first gala in the Junior Cup round one at Bracknell, taking 14 first places.
Wins went to Nicky Gentles (Un-14 100m breaststroke 1.22.90 and 100m freestyle 1.06.79), Hayley Couchman (Un-14 100m butterfly 1.16.18, 100m backstroke 1.13.40 and 100m IM 1.13.19), Leah Husband (Un-13 50m breaststroke 39.28), Alex Cameron (Un-11 25m butterfly 16.90), Abigail Slater (Un-11 50m breaststroke, 46.81), Samuel Sharpe (Un-14 100m freestyle 1.05.58) and Sebastian Willcocks (Un-13 50m backstroke 36.14).
The girls Un-14 relay team of Alice Bessey, Kayleigh Meager, Nicky Gentles and Hayley Couchman won the medley (1.07.66) and freestyle events (59.40). There were also wins for the Un-13 girls' relay team of Hannah Stevens, Amy Pope, Rebecca Foy and Leah Husband in both medley (1.09.14) and freestyle (1.02.60).
Second places went to Sebastian Willcocks (Un-13 50m breaststroke 40.78), Zoe Miller (Un-11 50m freestyle 37.27) and Leah Husband (Un-13 50m butterfly 36.86).
Third places went to Hannah Cole (Un-11 25m butterfly, 19.20), Rebecca Foy (Un-12 50m butterfly 39.78), Sebastian Willcocks (Un-14 100m IM 1.15.11), Amy Pope (Un-13 50m freestyle, 32.71), Mhairi Clare Stewart (Un11 50m backstroke 46.16) and Hannah Stevens (Un-13 50m backstroke 38.62).
Relay teams third places went to Zoe Miller, Abigail Slater, Hannah Cole and Mhairi Clare Stewart (Un-11 freestyle 1.09.41) and medley 1.26.32). Owen Marshall, Andrew Sharpe, Liam Stevens and Cai Davies also came third in the Un-12 medley relay (1.31.62).
The last event of the evening was the exciting mixed 8 x 25m freestyle squadron relay in which the lead alternated between Southampton, Bracknell, Alton and Rushmoor with City finishing third.
Result: Rushmoor Royals 244 points, Alton 225, Bracknell & Woking 218, Southampton 201, Romsey & Totton 86, Isle of Wight 84.
Romsey & Totton's David Sisi came third in the boys' Un-12 50m freestyle in 37.44 while the Totton boys Un-14 4x25m freestyle relay team - Matthew Green, Elliot Kirby, Peter Dibben and Jacob Coy - were also third in 1.00.63.
