STEVE WIGLEY is hoping his new look coaching set-up will provide Saints with a much-needed period of stability.
With a rapid turnover of managers this year the club is desperate for a settled period in which to try and improve the run of bad results that has accompanied the uncertain times.
Wigley's much-anticipated new coaching structure has finally been revealed and will consist of a 'three-pronged attack' for the first team of head coach Wigley, Dennis Rofe and the new coaching appointment when it is made.
Stuart Henderson steps up from coach of last season's national championship winning under-19 side to take charge of the same group of players in the reserves with the title of under-21 coach and reserve team manager.
The change in the Academy league structure from under-19s and under-17s to under-18s and under-16s this season sees George Prost take over the older age category while Andy Ritchie takes control of the younger age bracket.
The only piece left of the jigsaw is just who Wigley will bring in to work alongside himself and Rofe with the first team.
He said: "I'm speaking to one or two people but it's not a rushed situation at all because I've got Dennis working alongside me.
"We've had a little reshuffle with Stuart Henderson moving up to do the reserves and George Prost taking the under-18s with Dennis working with me with his wealth of experience.
"Probably whoever I bring in to compliment the two of us won't have had as much as experience as Dennis has had at this level.
"He's done every job at this club and done it well so I'm very fortunate to have him to work with and that's why it's not been something I've had to rush into.
"I've been very happy with where we stand at the minute and with the slight reshuffle it allows us to get slightly more out of Stuart and George because of the change of under-19 and under-17 to under-18 and under-16 it stopped us from utilising George as much as we could.
"It's enabled us to strengthen all areas and I feel if I bring one person in to compliment us all that would be enough because we've still got the link between the Academy and the first team.
"Stuart will provide that and it's important - it's exactly the same as I did for Gordon.
"I will bring one person in but that is one decision I feel I've got to get right because whoever that is will be with us for a long time.
"It won't be a friend or anything like that.
"I am looking to bring somebody in who I feel can add something different than me and Dennis and it's an important decision."
Although Wigley refused to name the candidates for the first team job, he did say: "I'm looking to bring a coach in who will compliment what we're doing.
"They will have worked in and around at a good level.
"The re-structuring below is already going in place and I feel we will be able to take it forward then and the club will be closer linked, which is what we want.
"It's important we get some stability now and then we just talk about the football from here on in, which is great.
"If you look round, everybody seems to work with about three people now - a head coach and two others.
"Dennis has been doing that job for a long time, the players know him very well, he's got great knowledge of the game and it's important I have somebody who I trust and like working with. And Dennis brings that for me."
