POLICE launched a major hunt today after a boy was stabbed at a Hampshire school.
Officers were called to Alderman Quilley School in Eastleigh, pictured above, at about 11.10am following reports that a male pupil had been attacked.
A police spotter plane was also launched in a bid to find the attacker, who is not believed to be a pupil but is a youth.
The victim suffered a wound to his forehead in the incident and he was taken to Southampton General Hospital.
Staff at the school called emergency services but it is not thought his injuries were life-threatening.
Police were today questioning pupils and staff at the school in an attempt to discover the motive behind the attack.
Scenes of crimes officers were also called out and sealed off the scene of the attack at the school in Cherbourg Road.
The school, which has 658 pupils and opened in 1964.
It takes youngsters living south of Leigh Road in Eastleigh.
It is named after the late Dr Quilley, MBE, who gave long and valuable service to local education.
It is a local authority school run by Hampshire County Council, who had not been made aware of the incident by lunchtime.
Richard Kelly, the head tacher at the school described the incident as "extremely minor".
He added that the victim had been taken to hospital for a "small cut" to the forehead and that an internal investigation was being carried out.
