Sir.-In response to your request for opinions on smoking, following last week's story in The Gazette regarding a smoking czar for Basingstoke.
I would like to see a total ban on smoking in all public places, especially pubs, bars and restaurants.
-Mrs J Banks, Oakley.
Sir.-Most non-smoking people at work can stay in a smoke-free environment. I am an LGV driver for a blue chip company where vehicles are run on a 24/7 operation. I am often given a vehicle to drive after a smoker has done a 10-hour shift in it.
After a few hours driving, I feel bunged up and my clothes smell of tobacco.
I have asked if it would be possible for non-smokers - the majority - to have designated vehicles but am told it is not possible due to the schedule of vehicles available at any time.
What about our rights to work in a smoke-free environment?
