A LOCAL water polo team is hoping to ride on the success of the city's diver Pete Waterfield at the recent Olympics.
Members of the Southampton City team are hoping that Pete's silver-medal success and the fact Prince William plays the sport will inspire people to take up the event.
The team meets every week for training at The Quays swimming and diving complex and members say anyone with a talent and enthusiasm for the water is welcome to come along.
The group has 20 members of which 13 are picked to play in their weekly fixtures.
But according to coach Mark Williams, fresh blood is needed.
Team spokesman Tom Noyce added: "It is a fantastic sport to be involved in and we are hoping that with the Olympic success more people will get involved."
As a result the group are staging a taster session for anyone aged from ten upwards at The Quays on October 26, beginning at 7.30pm.
