Hythe & DIBDEN joint manager Colin Burdle sensationally quit his post immediately after Saturday's surprise 3-1 defeat at table-proppers AFC Aldermaston.
Burdle, who ran the side with Wayne Oakley, bravely put his health on the line on Saturday by playing in goal for the Watersiders, despite the fact that he has been temporarily blinded in one eye after a blood vessel burst.
"A couple of players pulled out at the last minute and I had to play in goal to give us a bare 11," shrugged Burdle. "There was no passion or desire. It's not good enough and I'm not going to put up with it.
"There wasn't even a committee member up here today and a player had to bring the kit - it's like a Sunday side. We've got Blackfield next up on Tuesday evening but I won't be managing the side," snapped Burdle.
Things couldn't be much better for Hythe's rivals and opponents tomorrow evening as Blackfield & Langley lashed five goals without reply past Ringwood.
Rob Morant opened the scoring on 18 minutes and then saw his spot-kick saved before a simple tap-in by Tom Clifford made it 2-0 midway through the second half.
Reserve team striker Neil Williams then came off the subs' bench for his first taste of first-team action and promptly slammed in a ten-minute hat-trick!
"I'm absolutely delighted as I knew that these boys had that kind of performance in them, we're certainly ready for Hythe tomorrow evening now," smiled Blackfield boss Chris Homer.
Lymington Town are the new leaders after maintaining their 100 per cent start with a battling 1-0 victory against fourth-placed newcomers Shaftesbury.
"It's another very pleasing result in what was a tight game between two evenly matched sides," said Town boss John Pyatt.
The game's only goal came after 43 minutes. Phil Stone was fouled in the area and Danny Veal converted the resultant penalty to make it five straight wins for Town.
Another penalty decided the issue as former pacesetters Stockbridge slipped up 1-0 at home to Locks Heath in their top-of-the-table meeting, Andy Ricketts scoring from the spot on 70 minutes after the home keeper had fouled substitute James Knight.
"I thought that we played to our strengths today and I'm very, very pleased with the result. We've worked very hard for it and that's four wins on the trot now," said Locks' boss Matt Parr.
Poole Town move ominously into third spot following their 2-0 success at Romsey Town. Matthew White chipped the keeper on 14 minutes and an individual effort by Matthew Hayfield after 85 minutes sealed the points for the Dolphins.
