A TOTAL of 36,000 balloons were released at Middle Wallop last week as Dad's Army star Frank Williams stepped in to help promote the Clear Print For All campaign.
The event was organised by the Church and Blindness charity following 12 years of research and extensive travel meeting various groups of visually impaired people (VIP). Frank Williams was the clergyman in the classic BBC TV sitcom Dad's Army and is himself a VIP.
The balloon release at the Army Air Corps base was aimed at raising awareness of a lack of commercially published large-print books - especially in the non-fiction genre.
