A PLAY area designed to cater for the under fives has been closed for safety reasons following an attack by vandals.
The play area at George VI Road in Tidworth has only recently been made safe after £2,000 was spent installing soft tiles close to play equipment to comply with legal safety requirements.
But after vandals ripped up tiles and removed soil the parish council says it has been left with no option but to close the facility on safety grounds.
Chairman of the play areas committee, Chris Frankin, said: "It saddens me and the rest of the committee to take this action but the parish council has just spent £2,000 making this area safe with soft surfaces.
