The 11th Cheriton Brewhouse 6s again provided exciting non-stop cricket on Bank Holiday Monday.
After 15 matches and nearly ten hours of action it was a new name on the trophy this year - Compton & Chandler's Ford, who beat holders Tichborne Park by 19 runs in the Final.
Following close wins against Owslebury and Witness the Fitness (off the last ball), Compton booked their semi-final place with a comfortable win against fellow newcomers Cuckoo by 23 runs.
In the other group, Tichborne beat Yorkshire visitors Thorpe Audlin by 26 runs and came through two last over close calls against the Playboys and hosts Cheriton to take their place in the final four.
In the semis, Tichborne ended the Londoners Fitness' campaign with two overs in hand, while Compton cruised past the Playboys by 31 runs.
The scene was set for a high quality final and the two teams did not disappoint the large crowd. Batting first, Compton made 44 for 2 off their five overs with Shaun Parry top scoring with 18. In reply, Paul Primmer was the only Tichborne batsman to feature with 12 as the Park fell well short at 25 all out.
The Complete Best Batsman Award was won by Steve Naylor of the Playboys, and the Chalkstream Wines Champagne Moment went to Adam Brown (Compton) for his double wicket over in the final. Gary Chalkley (Tichborne) took the Pukka Chukka bowling award, and Shaun McLeonards (Owslebury) hit the biggest six (sponsored by Wilds Sports).
