HAVE you got the moves to get Southampton in the groove?
Following the competition's success last year The Daily Echo has once again teamed up with Southampton City Council to launch Dance Idol 2004.
Prizes up for grabs include professional dance lessons at the Jane Mackinnon Dance School in Rownhams, shopping vouchers and a silver trophy.
Taking part is easy. All you have to do is fill in the form, printed in today's Daily Echo, send it to us by September 30, and we'll book your place at one of three heats.
Heats will take place on October 17 from 9am until 5pm at Bitterne Leisure Centre, Chamberlayne Leisure Centre in Woolston and St Mary's Leisure Centre in the city centre.
There will be three categories - five to eight, nine to 12 and 13 to 16.
A grand finale of the best 36 will take place at St Mary's Leisure Centre on October 31.
Last year's champion was 12-year-old Amber David from Orchard Lane in Southampton. Amber was chosen from more than 300 entrants.
Sam Nash, promotions manager at the Daily Echo said: "Last year's Dance Idol competition was a huge success and this year we hope it will be even better.
"We try to make the competition informal and friendly.
"We certainly don't have any Simon Cowell characters on the judging panel."
