A WOMAN takes an unusual, and possibly dangerous, decision when sparkling new comedy The Devil You Know! premieres at Guildford's Mill Studio.
Written by and featuring West End star Frank Barrie (pictured) and '60s film icon Gary Raymond, it was described as "a marvellous play, funny, poignant, humane and witty" by Gyles Brandreth, after a rehearsed reading.
Experienced stage and screen actress Delena Kidd plays Harriett, a stylish and attractive woman who suddenly decides to introduce her ex-lover to her husband.
The two men eventually meet - but was her decision such a wise one? And exactly what happened 30 years ago?
Mr Barrie explains: "I was on a tour of Australia and I read a letter from a woman in an agony column.
"I won't reveal what the problem was, as I don't want to give away the game, but the advice was so extraordinary that I decided to write a play about it."
Gary Raymond is perhaps best known for major roles in Look Back in Anger, El Cid, Jason and the Argonauts, St Peter in The Greatest Story Ever Told and the title role in The Playboy of the Western World.
His wife and co-star, Delena Kidd, has a cult following for roles in The Avengers and Danger Man, among many other performances.
Mr Barrie is a familiar face, thanks to an acting career that has spanned 50 years.
From appearing at the National Theatre with Sir Laurence Olivier, to starring in 65 countries in his award-winning one-man show Macready, Barrie has also gained fans for his film and television work.
The performances run from Thursday, September 16, to Saturday, September 18.
Tickets, priced £10, are available on 01483 440000.
