JOHN Alderton and Pauline Collins join together on stage for the first time in 20 years in Going Straight at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking, from September 20 to 25.
Friends from the old days in London's East End, loveable lags Mickey and Ray recount their colourful past while in the sun-drenched Costa del Sol.
But, with a film researcher doing a makeshift interview and their wives unsure of the past (and each other!), the two old gangsters aren't able to retire quite as gracefully as they might wish.
This brand-new production is written by Richard Harris, whose previous comedy successes have included Stepping Out and Outside Edge.
With real-life husband and wife Collins and Alderton, who are famed for their faultless comic timing in TV and film classics including Upstairs Downstairs, Please Sir, Calendar Girls and Shirley Valentine, this entertaining look at the life of "retired" gangsters promises to be the hit of the season.
