SOUTHAMPTON racing driver Matt Speakman celebrated his second win of the season in his Rover Gti at Castle Combe.
It was his first race at the Wiltshire circuit yet he still qualified second his class in the Super Coupe Cup event.
He made a poor start in the race and found himself a long way behind class rival Martin Ward, but after two laps had caught him when Ward made a mistake at Camp Corner, Speakman dived through to take first in class.
He nearly threw it all away two corners later when he found himself approaching the Essex Chicane too quickly. And he had to hold a sliding car superbly before powering on to the chequered flag.
Speakman is back to second in the Gti Championship, six points behind Martin Young with round 12 of the 13-round series coming up at Snetterton on Sunday.
