IT took Cadnam just 12 seconds to score the opening goal of the season in the Drew Smith Group Southampton League last weekend.
And the man with that honour was Tommy Peglar, who added another in their 3-1 victory against last season's early pacesetters AFC Target.
AFC Merryoak keeper Craig Norris scored in his team's 9-1 mauling of Bevois Castle.
His brother Stuart also netted twice in the third division match.
Sixteen-year- old sensation Sam Austin hit a hat-trick as Romsey Town Sports defeated local rivals North Baddesley 4-2 in Senior 1.
Gary Kelp got AW Jeffrey's off to a flying start in their first season in the Southampton League as he bagged four goals in a 5-3 win against Brookwood, who twice fought back to draw level but two late strikes killed them off.
Inter Northam, who were only spared from relegation to the bottom division by re-structuring above them, look like making the most of their reprieve and inflicted a 6-0 defeat on Compton Res with Danny Saint scoring a hat-trick.
Fine goalkeeping performances by Northend keeper Andy Harris and BTC Res' Dave Brumwell made their 0-0 stalemate anything but a bore draw. Ironically, Harris used to play for BTC.
Veterans B division teams will not have failed to notice the 14-1 result that Hamble Club handed out to Grove, goalkeeper Kev Hallett among the marskmen from the penalty spot. Hamble racked up the goals without Robbie Cooke, who will be turning out for the team this season.
Hamble Club keeper Kev Hallett also scored from the spot in the Vets section, his side thrashing Grove 14-1.
The league had planned to go for three divisions and Hamble would have been in the middle one.
But a couple more proposed new teams failed to materialise so the restructuring did not take place.
It remains the aim in the near future if more Vets teams come forward for next season as there is a clear class gap at present.
