TIME is running out for an Alresford Beaver group that will close unless a new leader is found in the next few days.
The group of 18 boys, aged between six and eight, are desperate for someone to take charge of their weekly dose of fun and games.
Their former leader, Gerrard Clarke, left the Beaver section of the Alresford Scout Group at the end of last term but no one has been found to replace him.
Alresford Scouts leader Roy Naismith said: "The boys will be devastated if we can't find a new leader. Unless I find someone soon, who can be there on a regular basis, it will just have to fold.
"It's a very rewarding and fun thing to be doing. There's a bunch of kids out there who can gain a lot from joining the Scout group. They can get skills and camaraderie that they can't get anywhere else."
If you can help, call Mr Naismith on 01962 735607.
Meanwhile, the future remains unclear for the 1st Cheriton Scouts. The troop was forced to stop meeting due to a lack of volunteers and the boys were absorbed into the 1st Alresford group instead, although they continue to wear their Cheriton scarves. A decision on whether the group should fold completely is due to be made in February 2005.
