IF IT wasn't so serious, Eastleigh's Paul Doswell would have cracked up laughing at the farcical manner of Saturday's 2-1 Ryman Premier defeat at Hendon.
According to the Sparshatts Stadium boss, video footage of the two goals Eastleigh conceded would not look out of place in an episode of 'You've been framed.'
He said: "For their first goal, the ball got stuck under Tyronne Bowers's feet and then Lee Bright fell over and their bloke (Eugene Ofori) went straight through and scored.
"Then with about five minutes to go, Brighty played the ball to Danny Rofe, who got his studs caught on his laces, tripped and fell. Their bloke (Mark Nicholls) just slotted it past Colin Matthews.
"Talk about committing hari-kari! It was like something out of one of those Jeremy Beadle blooper shows.
"If it wasn't so serious, it would have been comical."
But although the slapstick defending made it two defeats in six days for Eastleigh and six games without a win, Doswell was frustrated rather than angry at the performance.
Ofori's gift came barely a minute after James Stokoe had conjured up a brilliant cross from the left for Andy Forbes to net a sensational volley from 12 yards.
Doswell said: "The first half was the best we've played all season and for a long while I could only see us winning.
"But what I have noticed at this level is that you only need to give the opposition two or three chances and they score."
Injury-wise, Christer Warren returned on Saturday from a badly gashed leg and it's hoped that Ryan Ashford and Rob Marshall may feature at home to Worthing on Wednesday.
Transfer-listed midfielder Neil Davis has attracted interest from Bashley and Fleet, while striker Robbie Matthews is hoping Salisbury City will come in for him when the Whites' general manager Nick Holmes flies in from Florida today.
"There are loads of clubs interested in Robbie and he's got until Friday to make his mind up," said Doswell.
