Hurst Indoor Bowls Club: The club is offering coaching sessions for beginners on Saturdays from 10am until noon.

The next one is on September 11 at a cost of £3 per week.

BERKSHIRE branch of the Polio Fellowship: An outing was held last weekend for members and an enjoyable afternoon was spent at the Canal Visitors' Centre at Aldermaston Wharf, from where it was possible to watch the world go by from the canal banks.

Eileen Monger and her daughter Sharon would like to express their thanks and appreciation to all the relatives and friends who helped them by supplying scones and cakes to enable everyone to enjoy a cream tea.

Although this was not a fundraising event, a healthy profit of £134 was raised for the society.

HEATH End Gardening Club: Meet at 8pm on Tuesday, at Heath End Hall. This month the talk is about pinks and carnations.

LECTURE: The Baughurst Society's next community lecture will take place on Thursday, at 7.30pm, at Heath End Hall, where local chairman Julian Pilcher, from the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), will talk about its work and aims.

QUIZ: There will be a quiz supper at Wolverton Village Hall next Friday at 7.30pm.
