SO now we know the source of "the white stuff" that makes striker James Beattie so successful. James is spearheading a campaign to encourage teenagers to drink more milk.
The Saints ace dropped in at Redbridge School to urge youngsters to substitute fizzy drinks with a healthy pinta.
James told pupils how, as a professional footballer, he ate a balanced diet and took regular exercise. Backing the campaign by the dairy industry and the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), James said: "It is important that teenagers recognise that what they eat and do today will affect their health tomorrow."
From the age of 11 to 18 is an important time for physical development and the habits formed during those years form the foundations of adult development. The Dairy Industry Association (DIAL) campaign was launched after studies suggested teenagers were more interested in fast food and entertainment than exercise and healthy eating.
Research has shown calcium intake has gone down by nearly a fifth over the last 50 years, with many youngsters consuming less than the recommended daily intake of calcium and vitamin A.
