IT WILL be case of 'arise Sir Donald' after Don Weaver won the annual Knighthood competition at Southampton Old Green.
Having scored five the previous evening, he reached the magical seven-shot mark to take the honours - his title-winning shot being a wood smack on the jack.
Weaver, an Old Green member for five years, will now be installed as a knight of the green amid all the pomp of this ancient ceremony (above) at the club on Friday, September 10 (6pm).
It also proves to be an expensive success as the winner is expected to buy drinks for all those spectators who watched him achieve the victorious shot - and stump up for a buffet at his installation as a peer of the Old Green realm.
