Bursledon was the best place to keep cool as the summer suddenly returned with a sizzling heatwave.
Villagers and visitors flocked to the shores of the River Hamble to enjoy the thrills and spills of the regatta which this year basked in a tropical climate.
Marking its 134th anniversary, it is the time when the three waterside villages of Swanwick, Bursledon and Warsash get together to pit their nautical skills.
This year there were some added events, while the big favourites such as the sailing competitions, a waterborne carnival and the children's fancy dress were still very much afloat.
The theme of the popular carnival was Wet 'n' Wild West and special events included a wagon train race and lasso, plus a wet 'n'wild bucking bronco competition.
There was also a sneak preview of next year's regatta when the whole of Hamble River community will be celebrating the bicentennial of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The Jolly Sailor pub, which starred in that famous TV soap opera Howard's Way, played a major role in the regatta. It ensured that there was a steady flow of pints to quench thirsts on this scorching September day.
The grand finale featured the magical torchlight parade of dinghies between Land's End Hard and the Elephant Boatyard.
The day came to an end with a spectacular firework display.
