NEWPORT IoW boss John Linington reckons Walton Casuals are beatable in tomorrow's FA Cup preliminary replay - even though he suspects the Combined Counties title chasers have a superior budget to the Islanders.

The Surrey side, who held Port to a 0-0 stalemate at St George's Park on Saturday, are managed by former West Ham, Fulham and Blackburn Rovers star Tony Gale.

Although, on paper, Ryman Division 1 outfit Newport are the superior side, Linington has a minimal budget to work with and said: "For Walton to have Tony Gale as manager and a few ex-AFC Wimbledon players, they must have some money.

"But they're not one of the best sides we've played this season and they are beatable. We should have won comfortably on our second-half performance."

Having survived a couple of early scares, Newport could have taken the lead on 40 minutes, but Ashley Wright lobbed well over.

Wright and Chris Bridges had further chances in an improved second half by the Islanderss, but Casuals came good towards the end, forcing a double save by Joe McCormack from Adam Fennell and Anthony Gale.

Newport's Michael Perry misses tomorrow with a knee problem and Ian Buckman is struggling with his back. Defender Ollie Fleming should return from a toe injury.

Tomorrow's victors face a trip to Hellenic Premier outfit North Leigh on Saturday week.

In his old professional days, Fleet Town's former England star Andy Sinton didn't enter the FA Cup until January, but now it's all over in early September.

The north Hampshire club were well beaten 4-1 at Wingate & Finchley, who were inspired by a hat-trick from Dean Williams. Paul Wood added Wingate's fourth and Lee Paul bagged a reply.

After their FA Cup exertions against Whitehawk on Tuesday evening - they won on penalties after an exciting 4-4 draw - AFC Totton returned to Sussex on Saturday and came away with a highly creditable 3-1 victory over Peacehaven & Telscombe.

"We were the better side and deserved our victory" said Totton manager Stuart Ritchie. "It was hot and the bumpy pitch dictated the way the game was played. It was just important to get through to the next round."

A Matt Parnell snapshot fired Totton ahead after 20 minutes with Scott Bundy adding a second ten minutes later with a neat volley following a cross by Craig Martin.

Bundy tapped in a third before the home side grabbed a late consolation. Totton are now home to Tunbridge Wells on September 18.

BAT also booked their ticket for the next round with a 3-0 home success against Egham Town.

Defender Dave Marden headed home at the far post from an Andy Chance cross to give the Tobaccomen a 35th minute lead. They extended their advantage on 70 minutes when substitute Paul Beasley nodded in after a great run and cross by Richie Gregory.

Lloyd Jenvey rattled the visitors' woodwork before another Gregory run and cross was again converted by Beasley seven minutes from time.

Lymington & New Milton face the unenviable task of a long haul to Sittingbourne tomorrow after the two sides drew 1-1 at Fawcetts Field.

The Kent side took the lead from the penalty-spot after 13 minutes with the Linnets replying right on the stroke of half-time through Darren Curtis.

"It's taken them five and half hours to travel down here today and the replay should be next Saturday," sighed Lymington boss Ian Robinson.

"But it's all done on mileage, not time - it's just our luck that we're the only Wessex side to draw today and we face the longest journey!"
