TRACTORS and horses were on parade at the 74th Appleshaw Village Fete as residents turned out in force to enjoy some traditional bank holiday festivities.
Whether true Appleshavians or visitors to the village, all participants took advantage of the packed programme of events.
A fancy dress competition produced some unusual costumes, but winner Phoebe Swan proved to be more than a flight of fancy with her butterfly costume.
A graceful horse parade included a Grand Nat-ional entrant Desailly, owned by Appleshaw resident Phillipa Downey.
Also on parade was a horse-and-trap winning team and vintage cars and motorbikes in the tractor show.
When villagers were fully sated by the hog roast, they turned their attention to the dog show and tug-of-war competition.
Around £5,000 to £6,000 was raised in total from the day, with all profits going to local organisations.
