THE George Yard car park in East Street will play host to Andover's first Vintage Bus Running Day this Sunday.

The event was organised nearly a year ago when local bus enthusiasts discovered the annual event which normally takes place in Warminster was going to be cancelled.

So they decided to set up a similar event in Andover and the group's chairman, Martin Ricketts was adamant that the collection would be wonderful.

Mr Ricketts, himself an owner of a 1950 London Transport RT, has helped organise buses to come to Andover from as far away as the Midlands, Bristol, Berkshire and Wiltshire.

Up to 65 buses dating back to the 1930s will be on display. The event starts at 10am and will be opened by the Mayor of Test Valley, Neville Whiteley.

Both single and double decker buses will be present from various bus companies across England.

Rides on the vintage buses will be free and routes include Stockbridge, Winchester, Basin-gstoke and Salisbury.

Stops will be made at the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, Modelex at John Hansen School and the Army Museum of Flying in Middle Wallop. Entrance fees to these places are reduced for the special day.
