UNEVEN paths in Andover's Pilgrims Way and Cricketers Way are due to be discussed at a public meeting later this month.

The meeting follows complaints from residents. Pensioner Fiorenza Chandler has recently fallen over, for the fourth time in as many months along the uneven path leading to her home.

Her neighbour, Grace Kellers, has never fully recovered from a fall outside her home in 1994.

Mrs Chandler, aged 75, has hurt her shoulders, knees and elbows, as well as scraped the skin on her hands and received a bump on the head due to her falls.

Her husband Peter, aged 74, has complained to both Test Valley Borough Council and Testway Housing.

But Sarah Durrans, Testway's housing manager, said: "Although we own much of the housing on Pilgrim's Way, the land that Mrs Chandler says is uneven actually belongs to Test Valley Borough Council.

"We have alerted the borough council and Hampshire County Council's highway's section of her complaints on three occasions in the last few months (on 6 April, 9 June and 22 July) and anticipated they would review the situation," she added.

Following a report from Mrs Chandler, Testway Housing visited and inspected the area and informed her the land belonged to Test Valley Borough Council.

"We checked to ensure that we had reported the uneven paving to them but also advised Mrs Chandler to inform the council of the incident," she said.

Testway Housing is planning to hold a public meeting on 29 September for all thosewith a responsibility for land in the area to get together and discuss broken paving slabs, overgrown weeds and blocked drains with residents.

"And to put together an action plan for solving the problem in the future," Ms Durrans added.
