IT'S SECONDS OUT! for "Ginger Destroyer" Robertson and "Deadly Dossie" Doswell.

The gloves are definitely ON after the company director and the manager of Eastleigh Football Club vowed to raise £20,000 in a charity boxing bout.

It's happening at Southampton's De Vere Hotel and some bold predictions are already being made.

Pete Robertson, 38, in real life a director of Condor Office Solutions, predicts a knock-out in two minutes and 30 seconds of the second round but Paul Doswell won't be intimidated.

He said: "This fight makes everyone a winner but of course I'd like to win it. I wouldn't fight if I weren't going to try and win."

"We have got mates waging bets on this and it's about even. The worrying thing is that most people want to see us both get knocked out," he added.

The £50 a head black tie bash, which features seven other bouts of amateur boxing, including junior Olympic gold medallist Tony Hill, sold out in just two weeks.

The proceeds are to be divided up between six good causes with cash going to Wessex Cancer Trust, Wessex Heartbeat, Hampshire Autistic Society, Fairbridge, Leukaemia Busters and Southampton's Golden Ring Boxing Club.

Stuart Gill manages the Golden Ring club and is training Pete, who has found the regime tough going.

"They are both going to go for it. Pete's been working hard but he has too much time off and he eats too much junk food. Beers are also supposed to be out but he has had some of those too."

The fireworks will fly on Paul's wedding anniversary on November 5 but wife Kate is backing him all the way.

"I think it's great," she said. "I know he has long wanted to box and I'm right behind him. I'm not nervous for him, I'm quietly confident."

Paul, 38, is not so sure.

"I have been brought up watching Sugar Ray Leonard but I don't see myself emulating him," he said. "If I can do six minutes I'll be really pleased. It is the hardest sport I have ever played. I have already torn my neck muscle and cracked a rib."

Dad of two Pete reports his family are keen to see him in action.

"My mates think I'm mad but my daughter just wants me to knock his block off."
