RUPERT LOWE has admitted that Sir Clive Woodward's involvement at Saints will be discussed at tomorrow's board meeting.

Sir Clive has attended three of Saints' four matches this season as Lowe's guest.

The man who guided England to rugby World Cup glory last November has also been looking at Saints' academy structure.

But his involvement is expected to now go further than that - with Woodward reportedly due to hand in his resignation to the RFU today.

Lowe said last night: "Sir Clive expressed an interest in getting into football and he has spent time looking at our academy and other aspects of the club.

"If we can learn from him about motivation, improving individuals and becoming world class, then great.

"We're looking at improving coaching techniques and individual achievement targets so we end up with better footballers.

"I will be discussing his involvement at the board meeting on Thursday."

The news of Woodward's continued involvement shocked Saints legend Mick Channon.

He said: "Now there's talk of Woodward coming in - we don't know as what - when what we desperately need is a strong football man to manage the team.

"What we've seen on the field so far has been worrying and someone's got get hold of them pretty damn quick otherwise they'll be fighting a relegation battle.

"Okay Clive Woodward has proved a good motivator of our rugby players.

"But with all due respect, there's a big difference between telling people how to beat the hell out of each other as opposed to how to outplay them on a football field."
