BROADBAND: Our local telecommunications guru has let it be known that BT is on the verge of changing the deployment rules for ADSL (broadband), so that it is likely that everyone in Chineham will fall within the criteria.

The new rules will not guarantee that all lines will work, but BT can take some additional steps making success more likely.

PAVEMENT: Drawings have now been prepared for the possible construction, during November, of a pavement link between the Christ Church entrance drive and the nearby bus stop.

One has reason to believe some members of the church congregation may be singing Hallelujah!

STROUD Close: The nightmare being suffered by residents of Stroud Close goes on.

It now becomes evident that most of the banking along the A33/Reading Road link road is going to be seriously lowered.

This means that residents could have quite reasonably been spared the anguish of recent weeks with the provision of a temporary access point for construction purposes, rather than having a virtual building site at their front door.

CHINEHAM Village Club: New members are always welcome at a price of £30 for a family or £20 for a single membership.

If you are interested, pop in to the club (in the village hall) or telephone 471982.

CHILDREN: The end to the summer holidays is drawing near and it's time to finalise the children's pre-school and extra-curricular activities.
