A SPECIAL exhibition being held in Winchester is giving people the chance to relive craftsmen's memories from days gone by.
The event, being held at the Hampshire Record Office, relives interviews conducted by the late county museums keeper of folk life, John Norwood with various Hampshire craftspeople.
David Lee of the Wessex Film and Sound Archive has picked out five of Mr Norwood's best interviews that will be on permanent display in the record office foyer, in Sussex Street, until Monday September 6. Highlights include talks with Henry Thornton, a tailor and breeches maker from Winchester and Albert Clark, a sailmaker from Ratsey and Lapthorn of Gosport.
The exhibition features recordings of performances by mummers, a tradition that saw people in Hampshire dress up in extraordinary costumes of paper and cloth strips to perform folk plays.
A county council spokesman, said: "This exhibition and talk will provide some fascinating and very local insights." For more information, visit www.hants.gov.uk/record-office
